Apple Time!

This week we are all about apples. Counting, tasting, sorting, and drinking!

Here some delicious ideas to try at home-

     -Make your own applesauce
*8 apples peeled and chopped, 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1tsp. of cinnamon

*Place in a crockpot on high until apples are mushy. Mash with potato masher and serve
 warm or chilled.

  -Candy apples

  -Applesauce and cinnamon dough ornaments
* 1 cup of applesauce, 1cup of cinnamon

*mix together & put on wax paper. Roll out and use cookie cutters to make shapes. Carefully  peel off with spatula and let sit for 48 hours or until hard.  ( To punch a hole for hanging, use
a pencil eraser)

What are the kids up to?

We are having lots of fun learning all about school and what behaviors are expected. We are  making many new friends and sharing in learning, discovery, and fun!

Some things to practice at home:

             - Counting 1, 2, 3
         - Identifying colors
         - Identifying shapes

Numbers, colors, and shapes are all around us.  Next time you're driving in the car or just playing in the park, take a look around and see what colors, numbers, and shapes you see!

Have fun!!!!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Hooksett Early Learning Program.  This site is designed to be a helpful tool for parents and students to check in and see what is happening in our classroom.  It will be updated regularly with useful information as it applies to our class.

Some important things to note for the start of the school year:

* Drop off/ pick up will be on the preschool playground at the rear of the school. In case of inclement weather drop off/ pick up will be in the school lobby.

Morning drop off/pick up times: 9:00/11:30
Afternoon drop off/pick up times: 12:45/3:15

* All students should bring one healthy snack and drink to have at snack time with friends.

* All students should have a full change of clothes in a plastic ziplock bag in their backpack in case of accidents or too much fun!

* All clothing, jackets, backpacks and lunch boxes should be labeled with student's first name and last initial.

*Any students being picked up by anyone other than a parent or guardian must be given permission in the form of a note to be submitted to the teacher.

* Most important:  Get ready to have fun!

For many students this is their first experience in a school setting.  We are very excited to make it a positive one filled with learning, excitement, and discoveries.  To start out the year, your child will learn what school is all about.  How to behave, how to make friends, and how to participate in the classroom.  Students will be asked to share information about themselves with their new friends in a "Getting To Know You" unit to kick off our year together.  We will have so much fun getting to know one another. We are looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you!
